Creating upgrade environment for upgrade process using change assistant
Applying tax bundles to Demo instance PS MP1
Applying all upgrade patches to Demo instance PS MP1
Initial Pass: Utilizing PeopleSoft
Change Assistant for the upgrade from PS HRMS 8.3 to 8.9 MP1 to execute initial
pass, bringing customer’s instance to release 8.9 MP1 and PeopleTools release 8.47
All customization/development activities will be carried out during initial pass.
Unit testing will be conducted for upgraded system.
Conversion programs will be fine-tuned during initial pass upgrade to ensure smooth
conversion process from
PS HRMS 8.3 to PS 8.9 MP1.
All other legacy interface developments and third party connectivity including mainframe
SAR Report delivery system will be configured and checked.
All public queries and other bolt-on applications will be upgraded.
Latest maintenance pack will be applied on upgraded PS 8.9 MP1.
Test Move Pass 1: This test move pass will ensure
that data conversion in the cutover to production can be completed within a reasonable
timeframe.
After initial pass to make sure changes to setup information are consistent, setup
information will be copied to another database instance.
System test will be conducted to ensure completion of upgraded system PS 8.9 MP1.

Test Move Pass 2: upgrade pass will be performed
for fine-tuning of scripts and entire application
All security options will be defined and security will be built on newly upgraded
system during test move pass
To save time during go-live window, generated SQL scripts will be fine-tuned
Integration testing will be performed on all third-party applications and interfaces
to ensure there is no impact on upgrade and that solution meets
all necessary requirements.
Conduct successful performance tuning of system.
Parallel test conducted to ensure the performance criteria and solution meets all
the necessary requirements for a cutover to production. This will
be done for 2 pay cycles to ensure smooth functioning of upgraded instance.
Copy of the pass 2 database will be set up for this test instance. This instance
will have completed data migration. The modules in scope are Core HR, Base Benefits,
Benefits Administration, Payroll for NA ,Employee Self Service, eProfile, ePay,
eBenefits and eRecruit
Complete regression testing to ensure there is no impact on upgrade and that solution
meets all necessary requirements for a cutover to production
Delta training will be conducted by for core project team members
